Foods That Help You Lose Weight - Three Simple Principles

#1 Eat enough protein.

What is protein? Protein is found in foods such as nuts, meat, cheese, and beans. Your body reacts to protein differently than it reacts to carbohydrates (although they are important too). Enough protein creates a sense of fullness. Women need about 50 grams of protein daily and Men need about 63 grams.

What this means is that you want to consume a serving of lean protein at every meal, including breakfast. At breakfast it is as easy as adding a handful of nuts to your favorite whole grain cereal.

#2 Eat food that is high in fiber and water.

Eating food that is high in fiber and water creates a sense of fullness and satisfaction for much fewer calories than eating foods that are calorie dense (like desserts).

What kind of foods are high in fiber and water? Whole grains, like those found in whole grain cereals, bread, and pasta - be sure to read your labels. Soups, especially if they have a lot of vegetables are a great source of nutrition for minimal calories. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables is also a great way to fill up on yummy foods that are also excellent for you.

#3 Drop drinks with calories.

One of the best ways to start feeling better right away and to start losing weight, is to replace your drinks with calories - soda, beer, wine, juice, ect. - with no calorie drinks. Some of the drinks that work well are green tea, coffee, & water.

This may seem like a big sacrifice at first, but it does get easier as time goes by. If this step seems too difficult then take it one drink at a time. Start with one drink a day and replace it with a no calorie drink. Do this once a week and you will begin to see a difference almost immediately.
